ISO 20957-8 pdf download – Stationary training equipment一 Part 8: Steppers, stairclimbers and climbers一 Additional specific safety requirements and test methods.
5.3 IntrInsic loading
5.3.1 Each piece of equipment of class H loaded with the users boctymass shall withstand 2.5 times the body- mass (100 kg) without breakage.
Testing In accordance with 6.4.
5.32 Each piece of eqwpmenl of class S loaded with the user’s bodymass shall withstand 2 times the body- mass (100 k9).
When tested according to 6.4, supports (e. g. load beanng surfaces) shall not be deformed by more than f • 1 ‘100. cantilever supports (cantilever surf aces) by more than I = 11150 and other dimensions by more than 1 %.
The training equipment shall not break when a static load of 4 times the bodymass is apled. A body mass of 100 kg is taken as nominal load.
After the lest
— supports (e. g. load bearing surfaces) shall not be deformed by more than I = 1/100;
— cantilever stports (cantilever surfaces) by more than f — 1/150;
— other dimensions by more than 11 00
5.4 Handrallshandlebars
If equipped with handrails or handlebars these shall show no permanent deformation of more than 3% when tested In accordance with 6.5.
All accessible edges shall be rounded with a radius of not less than 2.5mm
Test in accordance with 6.5.
5.5 Foot pedals and stairs
All accessible edges of foot pedals and stairs shall be rounded with a radius of not less than 2.5 mm.
When tested in accordance with ISO 5904, the friction factor of the pedatstair surface shall be more than 0,5.
The minimum width of the foot pedals and stairs excludlng the foot guards shall be 100mm,
5.6 Endurance test
When tested in accordance with 6.6. the training equipment shall withstand
— l2000cyclesforclassHand
— l00000cyclesforclassS.
After the test the training equipment shall be capable to functioning according to the manufacturer’s information on the correct use and shall r.ot show any signs of damage, e. g. oal leakage.
5.7 Free wheel
In the case of air fan or flywheel assisted steppers then the transmission assembly should be of a free wheel type.
Testing in accordance with 6.1.2 and 6.1.4.
Perform the endurance test as follows:
a) for class H 12 000 cycles working for 15 mm and rest time 15 mm and continue the same pattern until complete;
bt for class S 100 000 cycles working for 10 h. cool down to room temperature, then continue for furTher 10 h and continue this method until test complete.
Check the training equipment is capable of being used as per manufacturers instructions for use.
6.7 Testing of the additional requirement fat’ class A Compare me mechanical power input to the power display.
Determine the mechanical power input by calculating the input force over distance I range of movement) and time,
The displayed value shall be within ± 10% of this measured value in walls using the test parameters of the manufacturer, see dause 7 c).
The power inpul shall be an average of an 10 mm test period.
The test apparatus for measunng force, distance and time shall be accurate to ± I % for each of the three vanables
7 Additional instructions for use
In addition to EN 957-1 easy-to-understand instructions for use shall be supplied with each stepper. staircllmber and climber.
The instructions for use shall include information on at least the following points, depending on the class
a) information on the baking system (speed dependent — speed independent)
b) information on the stepping action (dependent or independent)
C) for class A the testing parameters to include training speed, resistance setting and range of movement used in the lest.
